slc board toppers
Nepal’s former prime minister and Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai was also a SLC board topper.

In School Leaving Certificate (SLC) ‘s 81 year-long history, there have been 85 board toppers in Nepal.

Though the Government of Nepal decided to discontinue the practice since 2005 due to unhealthy practices associated with it, the toppers still enjoy a wide media attendance and public reverence in Nepal. Recent media reports show that only a few SLC board toppers have decided to stay and work in Nepal, a majority of them are studying or working in foreign institutions. A few notable names that have stayed in Nepal include former prime minister and Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Chilime Hydropower’s Dambar Nepali.

Since The Durbar School gave 17 board toppers altogether. This is also because the Durbar School was the first school to enter SLC board exams and remained the only school for formal education in Nepal for many years. Schools that produced more than one board toppers are listed below.
